One day, when feeling especially worthy of blowing money, I spied Veggie Krunch Teriyaki Greens by Alive and Radient. At $6 for 2 oz, this definitely falls into the expensive snack category but caught my attention.
"Made with raw, organic veggies, fruits and nuts, our Veggie Krunch offers enlightenment to snackers everywhere. Open your mouth and say, "Ommm."
We sprout, mix and dehydrate our ingredients at low temperatures so that they remain 'raw.' Since we never bake or fry, you can rest assured that the fat in our products comes from heart-healthy nuts and seeds. The nutrients and great taste stay intact and aren't processed away!"
Collard Greens*, Kale*, Cocout*, Sesame Seeds*, Wheat-Free Tamari Sauce*, Carrots*, Coconut Palm Sugar*, Chia Seeds*, Apple Cider Vinegar*, Ginger*, Lemon Juice*
Price: $6.00 for 2 oz. bag
These blew the kale chips I typically make at home out of the water. They were crunchy and stayed in big chunks instead of pulvarizing like other brands I've tried. I'm assuming the "teriyaki" flavor refers to the combination of tamari and coconut but I'd say they are more polynesian or tropical than teriyaki. I also liked that the "chips" contained Collard Greens as well as Kale. The coconut flavor really stood out and, along with the other seeds, gave the chips the "fatty" mouth feel that many healthy snacks seem to be missing. Even David, skeptic of all things that may be healthy, liked these.
Verdict: Buy it.
